Nina and her three daughters are busy filling bags they call Happy Totes with items for kids in need.
"We’ve donated to tons of shelters, individuals, families, anybody who might need them," Thompson said.
Each Happy Tote contains a soft blanket, a stuffed toy and a special note. Since Thompson started the nonprofit, Happy Totes have been delivered to hundreds of kids in shelters, abuse centers and hospitals throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C.
For Thompson, it's become her way of giving back.
"I'm always looking for new places to give them to, and we get a lot of great donations, and I hope I can just continue to do that," Thompson said.
