‘We’re just so much alike’: Mother and daughter meet after 52 years

Since they found each other, they’ve talked on the phone every day leading up to their reunion.

Among the crowds of people arriving at the Orlando International Airport, Joy Sherer searched for a familiar face.

“I’m sure I’ll know what she looks like,” she said.

She was looking for her daughter, Maryann, who she hasn’t seen since she was a baby.

Joy came to the heartbreaking decision of putting her daughter up for adoption more than 50 years ago.

In 1966, as a young mom of two other children and recently widowed, taking care of Maryann became too much.

The two searched for each other for decades, until a private investigator finally brought them together.
