A new app is changing the way students learn vocabulary.
The app, called InferCabulary, uses visuals and audio to help students identify words. Deena Seifert and Beth Lawrence developed the teaching method, which they call semantic reasoning.
"We have carefully chosen pictures that show the word being used in different contexts," Lawrence said. And then, the students use their visual critical thinking skills, and then we have captions that also guide their thinking."
"They deeply understand what they're saying," Seifert said. "They're not just memorizing something and then spitting it out on a test."
