Can this Six Flags be salvaged?

The old Zephyr roller coast at the shuttered Six Flags site is visible from several vantage points in New Orleans East.

But inside these busted up entry gates, the damage to the more than 250-acre park is far worse than one can imagine.

WDSU got an exclusive look at what's inside with New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell.

Take a look at what they found in the video player above.

A rushing water rescue

A woman made it out alive after driving through a washed-out road thanks to the lineman who rescued her during Wednesday morning's storms in Oklahoma.

"I was very pleased everything worked out the way it did," Brandon McCaskill said.

McCaskill just happened to be at the right place at the right time Wednesday morning.

"I don't know what would've happened if I wouldn't have got there when I did," he said.

McCaskill is a journeyman line worker for the Rural Electric Cooperative in Lindsay, Oklahoma. He told KOCO that he first noticed the washout Wednesday morning while working to get power back for those living in the area after the overnight storms.

Homeowner recalls moment tornado touched down

A tornado touched down overnight near Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, causing devastating destruction.

Sister station KOCO-TV spoke to a homeowner whose property sustained significant damage.

"[I] was just lying in bed, and the wind started blowing and it was raining and my wife commented on how strong the wind was blowing," Eddie Menefee said. "About that time, it got real loud, I told her to get off the bed and get on the floor. The window broke out in the bedroom, the lights went out, and it was just real loud. I told her to find a light and check on the boys."

Menefee, his wife and their grandchildren were inside the home at the time. No one was injured. His shop and vehicles inside were damaged.

Woman rescued from burning car

Seven Georgia police officers are being credited with helping pull an unconscious 18-year-old woman from a burning car.

Savannah police were alerted to a single-vehicle crash Monday night. The driver was able to get out of the car, but a passenger was still inside and unresponsive.

Officers found the front door was locked or jammed due to the crash. Working together, they were able to pull the woman over the front passenger seat and out of the back door. They then carried her away from the burning vehicle.

Firefighters arrived soon after and extinguished the fully engulfed vehicle.

Rainbow arches over tornado

A video in Texas captured on Friday juxtaposed both the brutality and beauty of nature.

A rainbow and tornado were spotted beside one another by storm chasers in Vernon, Texas, near the Oklahoma border.

While a rainbow usually signifies a clearing at the end of a storm, seeing the rainbow under dark skies — and a tornado — was a sight worthy of many social media posts, The Washington Post reported.

At least six tornadoes developed in the area on Friday, according to the newspaper. There were no reported injuries from the severe weather.

Fight of 1,000 Joshes

A massive group of people all bearing the same first name, Josh, took part in a playful battle Saturday in Nebraska.

A year ago, Josh Swain, of Arizona, proposed that people with his name gather and fight for the right to keep the name, KLKN-TV reported.

They gathered at Air Park in Lincoln for a pool noodle battle.

The winner ended up being the tiniest competitor, 4-year-old Josh Vinson Jr., of Lincoln, earning him a trophy, Burger King crown and belt, the TV station reported.

Swain used the opportunity to contribute to charity.
