Starting Tuesday, United Airlines will begin firing employees who have not gotten at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Last month, the company announced that all 67,000 U.S. employees would be subjected to a companywide vaccine mandate.

Currently, nearly 99% of its employees have been vaccinated.

Six United Airlines employees who sought religious or medical exemptions filed suit in federal court and can remain at the company until Oct. 8. That's when the court has scheduled a hearing in the lawsuit.
