'Turn your craft into a hug': Woman creates charity making blankets for hospital patients

"(They're) works of art, but even more important, they're works of heart."


Diane Donnellan starting knitting blankets for hospital patients after the Boston Marathon bombings, sending each deliverable hug to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

"Turn your craft into a hug. That’s all that’s done here," she said.

From that, she created the charity Hugcrafters and recruits volunteers from near and far to make blankets.

Some come to knit and crochet at her Massachusetts home, while others from out-of-state mail in their completed projects.
