These university researchers are working on a face mask that could kill coronavirus on contact

The team of researchers is hoping to have a prototype ready in the fall.

Researchers at the University of Kentucky are working on creating an antiviral mask that could kill the coronavirus on contact.

Professor Dibakar Bhattacharyya is leading the team in developing the mask.

The mask has a thin design, and the antiviral membrane mask would attach to the spikes of the coronavirus, separating the spikes and killing the virus on contact.

"You can breathe very easily," Bhattacharyya told WLEX-TV.

The National Science Foundation is giving a $150,000 grant to create the masks.
