For an entire year, Spike the poodle was missing and his family in Texas believed they would never see him again.

The little guy went missing after he fled from the sound of fireworks one evening.

But then a miracle happened. Someone noticed the pup roaming the streets, hundreds of miles away, in Stockton, California.

Thanks to a microchip, rescuers were able to reconnect Spike with his family. The only issue was getting Spike back home to El Paso.

Pilot Julian Javor stepped up to return the poodle to his family. After 365 days of traveling, the reunion was full of cuddles.

"I didn’t know if I wanted to cry ... laugh," Reina Terrazas, Spike's owner said. "I didn’t know what I wanted to do."
