High school junior Nicholas DeConto is using his time away from school to help out at-risk populations during the coronavirus outbreak.
DeConto, from Winchester, Massachusetts, posted on the town’s Facebook page that he was out of school and had free time, and that he was able to make grocery runs for seniors who may not be able to go outside.
He’s helping people like Joan McNeil-Bird, who has been quarantined for two weeks.
"I think what he’s doing is absolutely fantastic," McNeil-Bird said. "He went out shopping for me, got everything but three items, and he said, ‘No, I’ll continue looking for them.’ And I just think it’s wonderful."
