A Florida woman has made her life's work providing a home for the area's neediest animals.

Florence Theot and her late husband started Journey's End animal shelter in 1974 for pets with physical or mental challenges.

The 91-year-old has maintained the property with hundreds of animals, including cats, dogs, goats and horses, for 45 years.

"My legacy is what I started, the philosophy, continue it so more people do it," she said. "Don't buy a dog, go rescue a life."
