Seniors at a Nevada assisted living facility are receiving dozens of letters a day, and all it took was a Facebook post.

New pen pals are a welcome surprise for residents at Carson Valley Senior Living, since senior care residents across the country are more isolated and alone now during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Employees snapped photos of residents who wished to participate in a pen pal program and posted a little bit about them on Facebook. Then letters and packages from across the country started to filter in.

A week after a July 6 post, they received more than 40,000 people reach out.

"To have that constant writing, it keeps their mind going," Adrianna Ward, life enrichment director told KOLO-TV. "And they just love getting that attention and knowing that there are people out there during this pandemic that people do care."
