Florida man kills fiancée, leaves body in Walmart parking lot, police say

As detectives questioned the man, he confessed to killing his fiancée and then “staging” her body in the truck, a news release said.

A death investigation in front of a Florida Walmart turned into a homicide investigation Monday.

Sebastian police responded to the parking lot of a Walmart on U.S. Highway 1, according to officers.

Police found Jeanine Bishop, 67, of Sebastian, dead in a black Chevrolet pickup truck.

Bishop's fiancé, Michael Despres, 56, was also at Walmart and gave cryptic accounts of Bishop's whereabouts before she was found in the parking lot, officials said.

Despres confessed to killing Bishop in their shared home, police said. Despres then took her to the parking lot of the Walmart, where he staged Bishop's body.

The investigation is ongoing. Police said evidence is being collected from Despres' home, job and both of their cars.

Despres was booked into the Indian River County Jail on Tuesday evening and is facing a premeditated first-degree murder charge, records show. Records did not list a lawyer who could speak on behalf of Despres.
