What will life look like post-pandemic? People who design airplane seating, offices and retail spaces are already drafting up plans that could become part of the new normal.
Partitions will play a role in many plans to act as barriers.
A company in Italy has designed new layouts to protect passengers. In their design, rows still have three seats, but the middle seat faces in the opposite direction.
Partitions zigzag through the seats of the plan as well, blocking passengers from breathing or coughing on one another.
Another design goes around the head of each seat on a plane, which would require less work for airlines to install.
Meanwhile, office spaces could look a bit different as well. For years, open plans at offices have been very popular.
Now, design companies are envisioning touch-free elevator buttons, removing doors from elevators and staggering people over a larger space.
