Photographer captures epic photo-bomb military reunion

Break out the tissues for this one.

A surprise military homecoming is lighting up the internet with positivity after it was captured on a photographer's camera.

Kristen McKenzie told her children Blake, Grey and Lawton they would be taking photos to send to their dad for Father's Day. The kids had no idea the surprise that was in store for them as they lined up in a field near MacDill Air Force Base in Florida.

Stars and Stripes reports Army Lt. Col. Simon McKenzie had been overseas in Qatar since February. When he ended up coming home a few months early, the surprise was set in motion.

The photos show the happy family smiling for the camera before Lt. Col. McKenzie is spotted getting closer and closer before the big reveal.

“They were honestly stunned and not sure what they were looking at when he walked up behind us,” Kristin McKenzie told the news outlet. “After a few seconds of pure shock, they let out screams and squeals of joy. The 8-year-old just buried herself in his side and sobbed.”

Photographer Hannah Sanchez posted the photos taken of the McKenzie family reunion to her company's Facebook page where it quickly caught fire.

"What better day than Father's Day for this dad to finally reunite with his family!" Sanchez wrote on the post. "So many long months, but after being back in the US and quarantining, LTC McKenzie was able to hug and kiss his family again."
