A mom says her 3-year-old was left behind during a field trip. She didn't even sign the permission slip

Karter was left to wander a busy rodeo on his own while his class was on a bus back to school, his mom said.

A Texas mom is furious after she says her 3-year-old son was left behind during a school field trip that he didn't even have permission to go on.

Kelsey Williams told KTRK-TV she never signed a permission slip for her son Karter to go to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on Friday. The TV station reported that a teacher's aide signed it.

According to KTRK, Houston Independent School District confirmed that Karter was separated from his Head Start classmates and was left behind by his Thompson Elementary teacher.

A stranger at the rodeo found him and connected him with another class from the school, according to the district.

Officials didn't know how long Karter had been separated from this class, ABC News reported.

But Karter's class was already on a bus and heading back to school.

Even after all of that, Williams said she wasn't told about the field trip ordeal until Tuesday, four days after the incident.
