Tennessee investigators have confirmed remains found earlier this week are of missing Tennessee 15-month-old Evelyn Mae Boswell.

The toddler was reported missing back in February but had not been seen since December 2019. The remains were found after authorities searched a property last week belonging to a family member of Evelyn's mother, Megan Boswell, 18, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said.

The bureau confirmed Wednesday the remains were Evelyn's.

During a court hearing Monday, TBI Special Agent Brian Fraley said the body had the "exact clothing" that Evelyn's mother said the toddler had been wearing when she went missing.

Megan Boswell and her mother, Angela Boswell, were both arrested back in February, and Megan Boswell was charged with one count of making a false report.

Angela Boswell and her boyfriend, William McCloud, both face theft charges after authorities linked them to a BMW sought in connection with an Amber Alert for Evelyn.
