‘I think it looks cute’: 9-year-old shaves head, puts on brave face against cancer

"Always believe in yourself and stay strong," the fourth-grader said.

A 9-year-old Kentucky girl is taking control of her battle with cancer.

Heaven Westmorland recently found out she has Hodgkin's lymphoma. The fourth-grader decided to shave her head before losing her hair from chemo.

And to help her gain the courage, her mom and her mom's boyfriend shaved their hair off, too.

"I actually just got long hair, and I've always wanted long hair, so it was kind of emotional," Heaven said.

After shaving her head, Heaven got to choose a few wigs.

She is in the first part of an eight-week treatment plan at Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
