High school basketball player returns to court after dad's death, who gave her love of the game

After her dad died from cancer, Carly wasn't sure if she still wanted to play basketball.

Carly Huckins found her love of basketball through her dad.

"I really couldn’t imagine what I’d do with my life without it," she said.

Her dad, Dave Huckins Jr., was a state champion at Merrimack Valley High School, and led the girls’ team to their first state championship as a coach.

But after he died, she wasn't sure what she would do.

But when she decided to return to the court, she hit a milestone that she and her dad now share: scoring 1,000 points in their high school careers.

"I think that my dad shot those three free throws for me. I really do," Carly said.
