Hard-working service dogs got treated to a well-deserved spa day

A nonprofit provided the pampering to make the pups feel special.

A few guide dogs in Kentucky were recently treated to a glamorous day off.

A mobile groomer came to the American Printing House for the Blind in Louisville, Kentucky, to pamper the dogs with baths and pedicures.

It was all an effort by the nonprofit school to make the dogs feel special.

"Guide dogs are supposed to be seen and not petted, respected as they work," said Jessica Minneci. "To actually allow the dogs now to have some free time and to get pampered at work just makes work more fun for the dogs."

Most service dogs go through thousands of hours of training before they are officially certified.
