Girls recently made high-end jewelry with a special message, thanks to a youth organization and global jewelry business.
A group connected with Girls Inc., which seeks to inspire young women, worked with Boston-based jeweler Hearts on Fire to design and create a collection.
"I may have teared up a little bit," Hearts on Fire spokeswoman Stephanie Evans Greene said. "From sketching on a blank piece of paper to (computer-aided design) to the marketing and sales, every step of the way the girls were involved in the making of the collection."
Participants said they created jewelry to reflect who they are.
