Foam cups are now a thing of the past at Dunkin'.

The Massachusetts-based chain announced the move in 2018, but said it would take some time to completely transition.

Customers will now get their coffee or tea in double-walled paper cups.

The company estimates the move will remove about one billion polystyrene foam cups from circulation every year. It's a material the decomposes slowly and can harm animals that ingest it.

Dunkin' is also looking to start using only recyclable hot coffee cup lids by the end of the summer.
