Fans are voicing who they want to host the iconic game show "Jeopardy!"

Tens of thousands of people signed an online petition in a matter of days, calling for the show to use actor LeVar Burton.

Burton is known for his influence on the hit children's show "Reading Rainbow" as well as his iconic role as Kunta Kinte in "Roots" and playing Geordi La Forge in "Star Trek: The Next Generation."

"LeVar Burton has inspired and shaped the minds of several generations of trivia-loving nerds," the petition says. "This petition is to show Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. and producers Mike Richards and Harry Friedman just how much love the public has for Burton, and how much we'd all love to see him as the next host of Jeopardy!"

Alex Trebek died of pancreatic cancer Sunday at age 80. He served as the show's host for 37 years.
