Brian Bononi and his family know there are some pictures that are worth a lot more than a thousand words.

Bononi was doing work for the leasing agent of a former Portrait Innovations studio in Kansas City when he noticed stacks of pictures and canvases still in the store.

Portrait Innovations closed more than 100 stores nationwide in January.

"It was disappointing," Bononi said. "Especially because they’ve been paid for, too."

Bononi received permission to take the photos with the hopes of returning them to their rightful owners. His family has helped catalogue every photo, canvas and mug in a spreadsheet.

"I wanted my kids to be a part of this, and they’re kind of treating it like a little community service project," Bononi said. "I was just trying to do what we could do."
