Dog who helped save family from fire now needs help of her own

Three-year-old Precious is in need of some serious medical care after saving her family from a fire last month.

If it wasn’t for Donna Gagnon’s 3-year-old border collie, Precious, Gagnon may not be here today.

Precious, who is deaf, alerted Gagnon and her significant other that their house was on fire Dec. 29, allowing them and the other animals in the house to make it out safely.

"That dog came up, woke all the other dogs, woke us up, and, literally, she’s the reason we get out of the house," Gagnon said. "And I mean that. She is totally the reason we get out of the house."

Precious even went back and found a kitten that was trapped in the rubble of the home, but severely injured herself in the process, skinning her legs on the debris.

Precious now needs extensive care, with a price tag of $9,000-$12,000. A GoFundMe was set up for her, and has already surpassed its $12,000 goal.

The support to help save her hero means the world to Gagnon.

"She’s beyond everything," she said.
