Specially-trained dog uses nose to help arson investigators solve crimes

When arson investigators need a little help finding evidence, this special pup knows how to use her nose to assist them.

A dog named Flash is using her amazing sense of smell to help arson investigators find evidence of accelerants at arson crime scenes.

Flash has been specially trained to help the Sacramento Fire Department detect the use of accelerants at the scene of a fire. Based on Flash's findings, investigators determine whether or not fires should be considered arson.

Firefighter and paramedic Sharon McIntyre adopted Flash and convinced her department to allow Flash to work for them. Now, Flash is part of a pilot program for trained accelerant detection canines that McIntyre hopes will become a full-time opportunity for Flash to keep assisting firefighters using her keen sense of smell.
