Five children lost their father on Friday after a car crash in Des Moines, Iowa. The family of Bazirake Kayira are refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo who moved to Des Moines two years ago.
Just four months earlier, the five children lost their mother. She died in August during childbirth.
Regina Nyanzira and Katwire Mwesigie are now taking care of their five grandchildren, but both are sick. With no job, no food and nowhere to live, they say they're worried and have nowhere to turn.
Their pastor, Eugene Kiruhura, has organized a fundraiser to cover funeral expenses and to provide support for the children. Kiruhura asks to pray for the children as "this is very sudden and extremely shocking for them to lose both parents like this in a short period of time."
