With schools closed due to the coronavirus, members of the Champlain Valley School District band were disappointed about not being able to showcase their musical talents.

"My first thoughts were, ‘How’s band going to happen?' How's chorus going to happen?’" student Hailey O'Brian said.

So their band director, Kim Thompson, came up with a plan.

"Communities are making noise at 7:00 at night to celebrate the local heroes in their community, so we thought, ‘Why not do that with music?’" Thompson said.

Thompson coordinated with other schools in the district so that the musicians could perform on their front lawns, all while social distancing.
